Wood Living Room Furniture

There are two different varieties of wood. They are hardwood and softwood. Wood that is obtained from trees that are broad-leaved is called hardwood. Where as on the other hand, wood that is obtained from coniferous trees is called softwood. Usually, softwood is of less density and hardness than hardwood. But there is lot of variation in the density and hardness of both woods with considerable overlap. Soft woods are far less resistant to decay when compared to hardwoods when used in outdoor applications but generally, softwoods are easy to work with.

The richness and shine that we see on the colors of the wood furniture are obtained by different types of finishes that are given to make the wood surface smooth. Finishing is necessary for wood furniture as the unfinished wood succumbs to moisture leading to continuous contraction and expansion of the wood.
